Aggieland Homeschool Athletics Basketball (AHA-B) is a program designed for homeschooled student-athletes ages 8-18. We have boys teams and girls teams which are initially formed based on age as of August 1st in the year the season starts. For example, an athlete is eligible to play on the 16U team if he/she is 16 years old or under before August 1. The age divisions are listed below:
Varsity (18U)
Junior Varsity (16U)
Junior High (14U)
Middle School (12U)
Elementary (10U)
Our teams typically have 2-hour practices twice a week at various gyms in town in the afternoons and evenings. Once games begin, there are usually 3 events (practices, games, tournaments) per week. We often travel to games and tournaments within a 2-hour radius of Bryan/College Station. The teams start practices in September with games running November through February or March. Our Aggieland Panther basketball teams play public schools, private schools, and other homeschool groups.
NOTE: If we have enough participants, we may have more than one team in an age division. In that case, athletes will be assigned a team based on skill, and your child may be on a team surrounded by lower skilled players.

The philosophy of the Panther basketball program can best be summarized in three main ideas:
Competitive. We seek to challenge our youth in stimulating competition that drives them to work hard and give their best.
Skill Development. We seek to develop athletic skills, physical fitness, and conditioning that will serve them their entire life.
Character Development. We seek to teach the Christian values of teamwork, honesty, integrity, humility, love, and respect.
Why competitive and not recreational? A few reasons...
Competitive sports teach teamwork, discipline, goal-setting, leading through example, sportsmanship, and overcoming adversity.
There are other options for recreational sports for homeschooled youth (little league, soccer, etc.), but few opportunities for competitive sports.
The other teams we are facing are developing players and playing to win. To not do the same can be discouraging to all involved.
Recreational sports work best when you can form a league of like-minded teams.
